Anne Ellithorpe: Bio

"Anne has a beautiful voice with a Barbara Cook-like quality about it. Wonderful phrasing and understanding of every song she beautifully delivers, along with her great presence and genuine personality."
Bob Egan (Bob Egan Entertainment)

Anne began her career as a dancer, performing on stages from Disneyland to the Hollywood Bowl, until injury ended her dancing career. Always harboring a secret desire to sing, she eventually found her way to the studio of Lisbeth Brittain Carter in Raleigh NC, and quickly realized that the cabaret stage was where she felt most at home.

Moving to the Philadelphia area in 2004, Anne became a fixture on the local cabaret scene, gracing the stages of The Society Hill Playhouse, The Ethical Society, Applause Applause, The Cosmopolitan Room, The New Hope and the legendary Odette's. In 2007 Anne attended the prestigious Cabaret Conference at Yale University, and Summer in the City in 2011. She has had the great pleasure of working with, and learning from, renowned musical directors Tex Arnold, Alex Rybeck and the late Paul Trueblood, as well as acclaimed performers and directors Sally Mayes, Laurel Masse' and Lina Koutrakos. In 2006 Sally Mayes introduced Anne to NYC cabaret luminary Rick Jensen, beginning a musical partnership and friendship that is flourishing today. In 2007 Anne made her New York debut, with Rick at her side, to a sold out house at the famed Duplex in Greenwich Village. Since that time, she has produced an additional twelve original cabaret shows with Rick as musical director. She has also appeared in NYC at The Triad, Don't Tell Mama and The Metropolitan Room.

Anne released her debut CD, Snow on Snow, to critical acclaim in 2012. She has also released several single recordings, including signature performances of In Buddy's Eyes and I Wish It So.

Now residing in the Greater Boston area, Anne is currently the executive director of The Monadnock Festival of the Great American Songbook. She continues her performing career, bringing her Christmas show to the beautiful Fitzwilliam Inn in Fitzwilliam, NH, as well as hosting and performing at several Festival introductory events in 2014 and 2015.
